RAGE PLAY - Behind The Scenes
In mid-March, Flux Theatre Ensemble was halfway through rehearsals for what was to be the world premiere of Rage Play, by Nandita Shenoy. This production was the culmination of over a year of workshops, development, and design conversations.
Since March 12th, when we made the difficult decision to cancel the production, the team has been thinking hard on how to honor all of the work and artistry that was going into Rage Play’s creation, and how to share some of that artistry with you.
We’re pleased to invite you to Rage Play: Beyond the Scenes — which will take place this Saturday, May 30th at 7:30pm via Zoom.
We know we can’t present the work as intended, so we’ve decided to dive into the process with you! The evening will feature select scenes performed by the Rage Play cast. You’ll also get a unique look into the creation process, with presentations by our designers and fight/intimacy director, stories and insights from playwright Nandita Shenoy and director Lori Elizabeth Parquet, and an audience Q&A.
***To reserve a spot and receive the link to the performance, please email emily@fluxtheatre.org or leave a comment on this page, to get the secret Zoom reservation form.***
We miss you, and we are so looking forward to reconnecting with the Flux community. We’d love for you to join us this Saturday!
About Rage Play
Three women stand over the man they’ve killed, struggling to understand how it happened and why he keeps coming back to life. Again and again and again. Inspired by the #MeToo movement, Nandita Shenoy’s outrageous black comedy Rage Play explores the cost women face in fighting back against misogyny and patriarchy, and how they might be complicit in these systems. Through their purgatory, the women aim for liberation…and maybe even a little sweet revenge.
